 Lawrence
Stoyanowski is a Marriage and Family Therapist and a Registered
Clinical Counselor. He received his degree from Loma Linda University
in California, and has been doing Therapy and Counselling since
1991. Lawrence is owner of Affinity Counselling Services and co-founder
of Lighthouse
Therapeutic Services. He has also enjoyed working at counselling
centres and family clinics in California and Alberta.
Lawrence is a Brief Oriented Therapist
with a focus on "effective communication". He believes
every person is unique and has special abilities, interests, values
and needs. He feels people are very resourceful and have it within
themselves to achieve stability and control in their lives. Lawrence
is dedicated to providing a high quality therapeutic service which
is sensitive and compassionate to the needs of his clients.
Lawrence feels people will excel when
they are clear about what they want and why they want it. Clarity
allows clients to focus their energy and skills to connect the dots
between where they are and where they want to be. Clients will move
forward when they know what they need and get their needs met. Lawrence’s
job is to help clients be successful by helping them know what they
want to achieve, find a path to their goal, and take the required
action.
Having a background in Structural-Strategic Therapy
and Solution Focused Theory he is committed to producing results.
It is important to him to continually upgrade professional knowledge
and skills, therefore, Lawrence continues to attend several workshops
and seminars, which include Self Esteem, Conflict Resolution, Grief
Recovery, Empowerment and Collaboration, Sexual Abuse and Suicide
Prevention.
His experience as a therapist, mediator and facilitator
includes working with groups, couples, families, individuals, youth,
and children. Dedicated to helping people take control of their
lives, and make good decisions Lawrence offers a wide range of services,
which include Marriage and Family Therapy, Communication Skills,
Stress Management, Conflict Resolution and Esteem Issues. He is
also an enthusiastic speaker who has provided lectures and workshops
on various topics which include Marriage Seminars, True Colors and
Personality Dimensions, Communication Skills, Conflict Resolution
and Self Esteem Issues.
Lawrence also has a real commitment and interest
in the local community. Through the years Lawrence has had the privilege
to sit on several boards and committees in the Langley area. Which
inclu ded
Chair, Vice Chair and Past Chair of the Community Health and Education
Committee (CHEC), held at the Langley Hospital. He also was a Director
at Large (Board Member) of Aldergrove Neighborhood Services and
is part of the steering committee for a non-profit computer school
–Aldergrove Computer Training School (A.C.T.S.).
Lawrence has a real desire to help people overcome
challenges, take control of their lives and realize their full potential.
When not working or being active in the community Lawrence enjoys
spending time with his best friends who are his wife and two daughters
and playing golf.
